Ginger + Turmeric Latte
This warming, nourishing beverage is the perfect caffeine free start to the day. Full of anti-inflammatory properties and immune boosting benefits this little latte goes a long way for your body!
GINGER + TURMERIC LATTE
Serves 2
NOTE: This beverage is very free form and should be made to suit your taste. Feel free to vary quantities depending on your own love of ginger or turmeric. The quantities below create a medium bodied, flavourful golden milk.
INGREDIENTS
350mls (1.5 cups) Cashew, Almond or Coconut milk
3cm piece of Ginger, peeled
3cm piece of fresh Turmeric root, peeled
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
A good pinch of Black Pepper*
OPTIONAL: Raw Honey to serve or maple syrup or agave for a vegan option
METHOD
In your Vitamix or high speed blender combine ginger, turmeric, milk, cinnamon and pepper. Blend until well combined, full of colour and smooth.
Transfer liquid to a small pot and heat on the stove or to a milk frother to warm and blend.
TO SERVE
Serve warm with a dash of cinnamon and raw honey.
*NOTE: Be sure not to skip the black pepper! I know it sounds odd, but you don't actually get a peppery taste to your beverage. To put it simply the pepper allows your body to access the curcumin (The superfoods property or active ingredient) in the Turmeric making it easier for it to absorb all the 'good things' you aiming to get from beverage.
