Sugar Free Apple Sauce
Delicious on it's own and perfect for making muffins, waffles and loaves this simple recipe is a staple I keep handy in my fridge.
INGREDIENTS
1kg of Apples* (any variety, preferably organic)
2 tablespoons of Water
1 tablespoon of Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of Ground ginger
METHOD
Peel and core your apples. Cut into quarters and place in a medium pot with a lid. Add water and spices. On a low heat with the lid on stew apples for 20-25 minutes stirring occasionally. When apples are soft use a fork to mash and mix adding a bit of water if necessary to reach desired consistency**
NOTES:
*Depending on the variety of apple you have selected cooking time will vary.
**I like to leave some texture in my apple sauce so I do not puree it however if you prefer a smooth consistency you can use a stick mixer to blend.
I have a handy apple corer. I can highly recommend investing in one to make peeling and coring apples a cinch!
